The Rector of the Technical University (TU) in Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, met with representatives from the USA visiting Bulgaria under the "Erasmus+" program, the university announced.
The group of representatives from the academic community of the University of West Carolina (WCU) was led by Dr. Yandong Yang, who is an associate professor and will become a full professor on July 1, 2024. She works at the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) at the University of West Carolina and is the program director for the electrical engineering program.
Dr. Gael Graham, a professor in the History Department who has been teaching at WCU for 34 years, and Dr. Tarek Kandil also participated in the meeting. He joined WCU as an assistant and has over 19 years of experience in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with current research and collaboration in the field of renewable energy and microgrid protection. Students from the American university were also part of the delegation.
Prof. Králov, Prof. Lidia Galabova - Deputy Rector for "International Activities and Integration", and Prof. Tasho Tashchev - University Coordinator for the "Erasmus+" program, introduced the guests to the opportunities at the Technical University in Sofia, the activities of the Center for Mechatronics and High Technologies, the possibility for students to train in world-class laboratories and equipment, as well as to find employment in the most prosperous Bulgarian and global companies.
The teachers and students from the USA were impressed by the curricula and majors at the Technical University in Sofia, and confirmed their desire for long-term and future fruitful cooperation under the "Erasmus+" program, as well as for the exchange of experience between the two universities. Afterwards, the guests visited the National Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies on the "Student City" campus.
