In 2026 the National Vocational High School of Computer Technologies and Systems in Pravets celebrates 40 years of history, traditions, and achievements, making the first school day all the more special for all students and teachers. Over 700 students, from eighth to twelfth grade, are currently enrolled at the school. Two new classes were launched this year – one specializing in cybersecurity and one in unmanned aerial vehicles – and all classes had already reached full capacity.

Guests at the ceremony were Prof. Lidia Galabova, Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Integration of Technical University of Sofia, Prof. Rumen Trifonov, the school’s academic supervisor and Dean of Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies, Albena Petrova, Secretary of Pravets Municipality, as well as former teachers, alumni, and parents.

On behalf of the University’s senior officials, Prof. Galabova congratulated the high school students and their parents for choosing one of the most prestigious secondary schools in Bulgaria. She thanked the teachers for their high level of professionalism and their efforts, for the outstanding achievements of their students, and for the recognition of the school as one of the leading secondary schools in the country. Prof. Galabova also acknowledged the strong bond between the School and the University and urged the senior students to consider continuing their educational journey by becoming students at Technical University of Sofia.

Principal Nikolay Sirakov, academic supervisor Prof. Rumen Trifonov, Albena Petrova, as well as Denislav Dimitrov, a representative of the Schwarz company and an alumnus of the School, also welcomed the students.

The Vocational High School of Computer Technologies and Systems in Pravets is one of the two secondary schools that are part of Technical University of Sofia. Such symbiosis represents a unique educational model – not only in Bulgaria but also in Europe – in which numerous universities are showing interest. It offers a number of advantages and opportunities for the professional growth and development of young people. Studies at the school are conducted using a lecture-based instructional approach. The core hardware and software courses are taught by habilitated lecturers from TU-Sofia, and the exercises in each discipline are led by qualified lecturers and teaching assistants.

The school has 15 laboratory and computer rooms equipped with modern computers and laboratory models, one lecture hall with 160 seats, two lecture halls with 115 seats each, and two lecture halls with 60 seats each. Graduates receive a vocational qualification certificate – Level III – in the professions of Systems Programmer and Computer Systems Technician. Over 85% of graduates of the Vocational High School in Pravets continue their education at Technical University of Sofia.
