After six long years of reconstruction, the building of the Technological School of Electronic Systems (TUES) is now completely renovated. During the renovations, the students studied in Building 8 of Technical University of Sofia. From 2020 to the present day, two TUES graduating classes have finished their studies without ever setting foot in their own school’s building. On September 15, the schoolyard once again filled with students, teachers, and parents. 572 of the students set foot in their building for the very first time. This year’s junior class is the largest ever, with 158 eighth graders. They are assigned into six classes, and the curriculum has been enhanced with four new specialized disciplines in modern professional fields. The eighth graders will specialize in Software Development, Communication and Computer Networks, and two classes each in Intelligent Systems and Robotics. In addition to new classrooms and laboratories, they will also have two specialized STEM rooms at their disposal.
Veselka Hristova, Principal of TUES, thanked Technical University of Sofia for the years of coexistence and collaboration, during which TUES established itself as one of the best schools in Sofia. And this is due to the unique educational model they are building – one that establishes a real connection between school, university, and engineering.
“TUES is not simply a school, but an institution of learning, a gateway to high technology and a first step towards the nation’s engineering elite,” said the Chairperson of the General Assembly of Technical University of Sofia, Corresponding Member Prof. DSc Georgi Todorov, addressing the students.
The Vice-Rector for E-Governance and Coordination, Assoc. Prof. Rosen Radonov, Prof. Ivan Kralov, Prof. Georgi Angelov, the Dean of Faculty of Telecommunications, Prof. Agata Manolova, and the Vice Dean of Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies, Assoc. Prof. Dimitar Arnaudov also congratulated TUES students on behalf of the University. They wished the twelfth graders to further embrace the journey they are on and, after graduation, to continue their education at Technical University of Sofia.
On the first day of school, the Principal of TUES presented awards – typically reserved for 12th grade graduation – to students from various grade levels who had spent their summer vacation at the school helping with the building renovations.
