AesThiCo Aesthetics and Ecology in Technological Education
In the 21st century, it is of paramount importance in education to employ new, transdisciplinary approaches that link technological development with the resolution of climate and social issues. Technologies influence various aspects of human life, from consumer electronics to facial recognition or autonomous vehicles, so it is crucial that technical innovations are linked with aesthetic and ethical concepts. The aesthetics of care connects specific ways of caring: for each other, for human societies, and for the environment, with the way we design, build, interact with, use, or aestheticize technology. Studying aesthetics and ethics in technical specialties is a necessary condition for developing skills and competencies in students, which will help redefine sustainable technological development, so that future engineers possess competencies that they can use in creating technologies to address societal and ecological problems.
