European Centre of Vocational Excellence in Microelectronics
Microelectronics is the fastest-developing science, forming the foundation of the electronic economy and electronic society, and continuous learning is of crucial importance. In the nano era, an integrated approach is needed – a new partnership between education and work, to meet the need for synergy between education and industry, to promote the development of competencies, technological and soft skills for new jobs in microelectronics.

About the project
Microelectronics is the fastest-developing science, forming the foundation of the electronic economy and electronic society, and lifelong learning is of crucial importance. In the nano era, an integrated approach is needed – a new partnership between education and work – to meet the need for synergy between education and industry, to promote the development of competencies, technological and soft skills for new jobs in microelectronics. The ECoVEM project brings together TVET centres, polytechnics, industrial associations, and social partners to create a European cooperation platform for professional achievements in microelectronics to address the challenges of: digitalization, artificial intelligence, green technologies, gender equality and technologies, and migrant integration. ECoVEM builds upon and complements the strengths of national TVET systems in countries with more advanced TVET and supports less advanced regions to achieve excellence in TVET.
ECoVEM applies innovative training approaches to lifelong learning capacity for self-regulated learning, hard and soft skills, using ecosystem-based theoretical models and performance support systems. ECoVEM contributes to the sustainable management of TVET at national and European levels through the participation of TVET and employment policymakers, social partners, industrial associations, and companies for: - lifelong teacher training and incentives to enhance teacher qualifications - implementation of best practices and approaches from advanced countries for high TVET achievements in less advanced regions - effective financial models for TVET, including work-based and apprenticeship-based models, and for investments in TVET and applied research - enhancing the role of TVET in smart specialization strategies. ECoVEM embodies excellence in TVET with 21 partners from 7 countries, representing CoVEs for EQF levels 3-8, industry with national and EU industrial associations, regulatory bodies in accreditation and certification, and social organizations for women in technology and migrants.
