 FLEXI-GRID will demonstrate cutting-edge technologies and innovative flexible markets, enabled by advanced cross-platform local energy trading systems and providing flexibility to distribution system operators to ensure secure, stable, and affordable operation of electrical distribution networks for decarbonizing energy systems with a high share of renewable energy sources (up to and above 100%). By leveraging digital, smart grid technologies, IoT, and blockchain, FLEXI-GRID will provide a transparent data management platform, broadcasting real-time information about grid conditions to optimize grid monitoring and market operation. The project's geographical coverage, with four test sites in Bulgaria, Sweden, Switzerland, and Turkey, allows for the validation of solutions under multiple market conditions and ensures project scalability, knowledge transfer, scaling, and replication post-project. For the first time, small and medium-sized DSOs are showing interest in testing innovative tools and solutions. The project is strengthened through collaboration with Canada and supported by financial institutions to ensure successful commercial pathways for innovative solutions.
