About the project
The HELIOS project aims to develop and integrate innovative materials, designs, technologies, and processes to create a new concept for an intelligent, modular, and scalable battery pack for a wide range of electric vehicles used in urban electromobility services, from medium-sized fully electric vehicles to electric buses, with improved performance, energy density, safety, and leveled storage costs. The HELIOS project will pave and accelerate the way for electric vehicles by improving and demonstrating innovative, modular, lighter, and more eco-friendly hybrid lithium-ion batteries through comprehensive development of all necessary technologies and designs.
The project is aimed at:
- Evaluating the efficiency, circularity, and sustainability of urban mobility models.
- Contributing to the creation of a solid and integrated pan-European supply chain.
- Promoting collaboration between car manufacturers and high-tech small and medium-sized enterprises.
- Creating standardized methodologies and protocols for summarizing information to be used in the automotive industry for design and production purposes.
- Generating new intellectual property and patents in the field of battery design, standardization, and manufacturing, sensors, power electronics, information and communication technologies, etc.
