About the project
The project proposal is interdisciplinary, based on knowledge in the fields of engineering sciences (electronics, information and communication technologies) and medicine. Both fields fall entirely within the National Strategy for Scientific Research, specifically in the priority areas "Information and Communication Technologies" and "Health and Quality of Life".
A specific feature of the project is the planned telemetry monitoring of patients with pacemakers, which by its nature falls within the field of telemedicine applications. Telemedicine is defined as the remote provision of healthcare and medical knowledge through the use of telecommunications means and methods, with the aim of providing expert-based medical assistance to unqualified, remote personnel or to the patients themselves. Telemedicine applications are the subject of numerous research projects under framework programs, including Horizon 2020. Evidence of this is the multitude of competitive sessions.
