The objective of the doctoral training for the doctoral program "AUTOMATED INFORMATION PROCESSING AND CONTROL SYSTEMS" in the Department of "Automation of Continuous Processes" (ACP) and the Department of "Systems and Control" (SC) is aimed at:a) enhancing the qualifications of the doctoral students;b) preparing them as highly qualified specialists for the industry;c) forming them as highly qualified teachers for TU-Sofia;d) developing them as competent, knowledgeable, and capable scientists ready to meet the challenges of modern industry and technology.Achieving the stated objective is associated with the fulfillment of the following tasks:a) compliance with legal requirements in the training of doctoral students;b) the training and counseling of doctoral students shall be carried out by highly qualified habilitated teachers;c) continuous improvement and modernization of the material base for studying world standards in the scientific field;d) application of modern achievements in the field of information and communication technologies for research and development, analysis and processing of information and data;e) maintaining continuous contact, close interaction and responding to the growing interest of companies in the field in scientific and applied developments related to the topic of the doctoral program.Requirements for the preparation of specialists with an educational and scientific degree of "Doctor" according to the doctoral program "AUTOMATED SYSTEMS FOR INFORMATION PROCESSING AND CONTROL" are:● to have excellent training in the field of information databases and systems;● to have excellent training in the field of automatic control theory;● to possess specific knowledge in the field of automation tools;● to possess specific knowledge in the field of operations research and mathematical optimization;● to have training in the field of communication engineering and technologies;● to have knowledge in the field of information technology;● to have knowledge in the field of distributed control systems;● in-depth and creative understanding and use of literature in the specific field in which the dissertation topic is formulated;● demonstration of creative thinking;● acquisition of a high level of skills, knowledge and qualifications for theoretical and/or experimental research work.In the Faculty of Automation (FA), Department of "Automation of Continuous Processes" (ACP) and Department of "Systems and Control" as the TRAINING UNIT there are twelve specialized laboratories on "Automated Information Processing and Control Systems", equipped with specific technical means where doctoral students can be successfully trained in the doctoral program "AUTOMATED INFORMATION PROCESSING AND CONTROL SYSTEMS". The research of doctoral students is carried out in the laboratories "Process and System Control", "Technical Means and Automation of Technological Processes", "Logical Process Control", "System Optimization", "Fermentation Technologies and Automatic Control of Biotechnological Processes", "System Analysis and Design" (FA, ACP) and "Microprocessor Control Systems", "Modeling and Simulation of Processes and Systems", "Modern Control Systems", "Embedded Control Systems", "Schneider Electric Industrial Control Systems", "Siemens Industrial Control Systems" (FA, SC).TU-Sofia, FA is the educational institution in Bulgaria that can provide training for doctoral students in the doctoral program "AUTOMATED INFORMATION PROCESSING AND CONTROL SYSTEMS", which should be in accordance with European requirements regarding the type of research:● theoretical and experimental;● of an engineering nature.The topics on which doctoral students are trained under this program are current and are determined by the national priorities in the specific scientific research field, namely: development of methods and tools for research and improvement of systems and tools for automatic control and information processing.The main areas in which the training is generally developed are:● Theory of automatic control and regulation;● Analysis, modeling and optimization of dynamic systems;● Automation of technological processes and technical means of automation in industry and in the non-material sphere;● Automated systems for production and computer-integrated information systems for management;● Methods and algorithms for analytical synthesis of systems with specified quality; methods for analyzing the quality of industrial control systems;● Design of systems for automation of industrial facilities and systems for automation of processes in the non-material sphere;● Methods and algorithms for information security in automated systems;● The human factor in automated information processing and control systems;● Design of technical means for the construction of automated control systems;● Information systems for quality management
