The "Electronics" specialty is studied at the Faculty of "Electronics and Automation" (FEA). The goal of the study program in the "Electronics" specialty is to create specialists with higher education who meet the parameters in the qualification profile: electrical engineer specializing in "Electronics". The electronics engineer is trained to perform production, technological, operational, installation, and repair activities, as well as design, organizational-management, and scientific activities. These activities can be implemented by the electronics engineer in household and industrial electronics, medical equipment, as well as in industries and productions where electronics is supportive, such as mechanical engineering, electric transport, metrology, medicine, communications, agricultural machinery and their laboratory equipment, and the research sector. The electronics engineer combines classical and the most modern trends in electronics. The specialty aims to provide education in the field of electronics, necessary for qualified engineers of high quality, capable of making an immediate contribution to the field of design-technological planning, design, modernization, and operation of electronic devices, in the design and reconstruction of enterprises for the production and operation of such equipment, and in the application of electronic technology in all areas of their activity. The "Electronics" specialty is traditional for higher technical education in Bulgaria. Students are trained in three educational levels - bachelor, master, and doctor. The specialty, with its specializations, combines in-depth fundamental and specialized training for students and is aligned with contemporary and modern trends in their education.Graduates of the specialty are employed as designers and technologists, researchers, team leaders, and organizers of work in various economic units. The dynamic development of electronics, with its most modern variants, necessitates continuous adequate dynamics and constant development of the specialty. The educational process is continuously enriched and modernized, which determines the need for dynamic development of all its components - teachers, teaching methods and tools, educational-experimental base, and training facilities. The duration of study for the Bachelor's degree is 4 years for full-time study with 2625 contact hours. The main form of knowledge assessment is the written exam. Some disciplines also include written ongoing assessments. Within each semester, no more than four exams and two ongoing assessments are scheduled. Students' knowledge is assessed using a six-point grading system. Student training concludes with the development and defense of a thesis before a state commission of habilitated experts. Practical training for the acquisition of the Bachelor's degree includes 2 weeks of academic practice in the first year, two weeks of academic-industrial practice in the second year, 2 weeks of specialized practice in the third year, and two weeks of pre-graduation practice in the fourth year, totaling 240 academic hours. For the Master's degree, the duration of study is 1.5 years of full-time study with 675 contact hours. The teaching staff is highly qualified. The program is taught by 1 professor, 10 associate professors, 2 senior assistant doctors, and 3 senior assistants. Lecture courses for Master's degree disciplines are assigned exclusively to habilitated teachers, while seminars, laboratory exercises, and part of the lectures (up to 25%) are conducted by assistants with a PhD degree. Training of students at the educational and qualification level "Doctor" is carried out on the basis of an individual study plan for each doctoral student. The completed dissertations of the trained doctoral students always go through approbation through a preliminary defense before a competent scientific body. The financial training and procedures for the official defenses are covered by the budget of the Branch.
