The "Engineering Ecology" specialty provides solid and in-depth training in core disciplines, balancing the preservation of natural resources with modern industrial technologies. The education is fully aligned with the established educational and research programs of leading European universities in Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and other countries. Students study industrial pollution, investment intention assessment, renewable energy sources, pollutant modeling, as well as modern eco-management. Graduates of the Master's program in "Engineering Ecology" can continue their studies at the doctoral level at the Technical University of Sofia or abroad in suitable scientific fields. Excellent students from the specialty have the opportunity to participate in the "Erasmus+" program for training and writing a thesis at leading European universities. In addition, direct cooperation with leading industry companies is planned, which will provide students with direct access to the real industrial environment. The curriculum of the specialty is aligned with the educational and research programs of leading European universities in countries such as England, Germany, France, Italy, and others.

For the master's program "Engineering Ecology", applicants must have completed an educational and qualification level of "bachelor" and/or "master" at the Technical University of Sofia or at other universities in the country and abroad in specialties from the field 4. Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Informatics and 5. Technical Sciences.

Successfully graduated environmental engineers from this program acquire:

in-depth training in the use of methods and tools for treating wastewater, dust-gas mixtures, domestic and industrial waste;
in-depth training and knowledge in designing, researching, and developing new technological processes related to environmental protection technologies and renewable energy sources;
knowledge and skills for modeling, researching, and analyzing the behavior of physical and chemical pollutants in the environment;
knowledge of information and resource management in environmental impact assessment procedures;
knowledge and skills related to the sustainable management of future and existing industrial facilities.

The accumulated experience so far shows that environmental engineers who have received in-depth training in the use of methods and tools of environmental technologies, environmental impact assessment, environmental management, and sustainable development in the field of industry, successfully begin their implementation in areas such as:

small and medium-sized enterprises in the light and heavy industry sectors;
enterprises producing environmental protection facilities;
engineering firms in the field of environmental protection analysis and technologies;
development of new environmental technologies and renewable energy sources;
consulting companies and firms specializing in conducting and implementing environmental impact assessment procedures, comprehensive permits, etc., during the design and management of industrial enterprises.

Graduates who have acquired the professional qualification of environmental engineer will be able to work in state institutions related to environmental and water protection, European companies with branches in Bulgaria, as well as in many Western European companies and institutes related to environmental protection and sustainable development.
