The doctoral program in “Medical Devices” is driven by:

The growing interest of companies in the manufacturing sector in applied research related to the field of study;
The need to replenish the faculty of tenured professors by enhancing the educational and scientific qualifications of young teaching assistants and specialists in the country;
The presence at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications (FETT) and the Faculty of Applied Electronics (FEA) of highly qualified tenured faculty members across a wide range of disciplines with interests in current and promising scientific and applied scientific fields;
The opportunity to enhance the qualifications of doctoral students.

The program is aimed at graduating students holding a “bachelor’s” or “master’s” degree who wish to advance their educational qualifications.
The program and the admissions process are conducted in strict compliance with the legal requirements governing doctoral education.

The requirements for training and education ensure the acquisition of the following knowledge and skills: Instruction and advising are provided by highly qualified, tenured faculty, while the facilities are continuously improved and updated to meet global standards.

Excellent training in the field of basic electronics;
Specialized knowledge in the field of biomedical engineering;
Training in the field of communications engineering and technologies;
Knowledge in the field of information technology, distributed systems, and distributed embedded systems;
Knowledge of modern measurement techniques ranging from low to ultra-high frequencies;
Application of modern advances in information and communication technologies for research and development, analysis, and processing of information and data;
In-depth and creative understanding and use of specialized literature in the specific field;
Acquisition of a high level of skills, knowledge, and qualifications for theoretical and/or experimental research work and the demonstration of creative thinking.

The goal of the program is for doctoral students to develop into:

Competent, knowledgeable, and capable researchers, ready to meet the challenges of modern industry and technology;
Highly qualified faculty members to meet the needs of the Technical University of Sofia;
