"Protection of the Population in Disasters and Accidents" is a multidisciplinary specialty within professional field 5.13 "General Engineering". Graduates of this specialty will be able to work as "Risk Engineers", "Civil Protection Inspectors for the Population" and other positions related to risk in disasters and accidents in local government structures, state structures, industrial enterprises, etc. The department's faculty members have excellent pedagogical training and rich practical experience, which allows them to prepare future engineers for real-world practice to the greatest extent possible.

The admission to the specialty "Protection of the Population in Disasters and Accidents", educational and qualification level (EQL) "master" is carried out by document competition. Applicants must have completed

• EQL "bachelor" and/or "master" in specialties from the fields of higher education 3. Social, economic and legal sciences; 4. Natural sciences; mathematics and informatics; 5. Technical sciences; 6. To prepare specialists for the master's program "Protection of the Population in Disasters and Accidents," a completed bachelor's degree is required. These specialists need to have basic knowledge in higher mathematics, physics, chemistry, heat engineering, computer science, and modern programming and design tools.

In the offered course, students will acquire knowledge, according to the disciplines described in the curriculum:

• Radiation, chemical, and biological safety;
• Protective and control devices;
• Theory of explosive combustion;
• Automated systems for signaling pre-emergency and emergency situations;
• Organization of emergency rescue operations,
• Buildings and structures and their behavior in emergency situations;
• Accidents caused by vehicles;
• Industrial accidents.

Graduates of the specialty can be employed:

• in positions within the civil protection structures for the population and infrastructure in the state administration and local government;
• in industry – in structures responsible for responding to emergency situations;
• in structures providing emergency rescue operations at sea and environmental protection in case of disasters, accidents, and catastrophes at sea;
• to carry out consulting and expert activities;
• to work in the field of education and other areas of socio-economic life;
• to occupy other positions corresponding to their qualifications.
