Pan-European Seal Professional Traineeship Programme 2025-2026
Apply for one-year traineeship programs with attractive scholarships at:
- European Patent Office, Munich, Germany
- European Union Intellectual Property Office, Alicante, Spain
In January 2020, the Rector of TU-Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with two European institutions:
- European Patent Office (EPO) Munich, Germany and
- European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) Alicante, Spain.
- Over 100 selected European universities have also signed such a Memorandum, which is a recognition of their high prestige in Europe. According to the Memorandum, TU-Sofia can offer up to 15 graduating students each year to these European organizations for a one-year traineeship in the field of patent protection for inventions (EPO) and protection of trademarks and industrial designs (EUIPO). For this purpose, the two offices provide one-year traineeship scholarships of over 2200 euros per month. Students who have completed a bachelor's or master's degree no later than 2 years ago, or those who have completed their studies this year and are graduating but have not yet received their diplomas (applying with an academic transcript), can apply to only one of the two organizations in the following fields:
- science and engineering,
- information technology,
- human resources and business administration,
- economics and finance,
- law,
- international relations and communication.
For engineering specialties, the European Patent Office (EPO) based in Munich is preferred.
Applications are initially submitted within TU – Sofia, with candidates sending their CV (European format with photo) to the Program Manager PES – Dr. Vladislav Prelezov, office 2125-A, vprelezov@tu-sofia.bg, tel.: 02-965-2595 or 2845 who summarizes the candidates and sends the list approved by the Rector to the specified authorities, according to the candidates' choice.
The included approved candidates in the list submit their documents independently online in the chosen European organization:

Deadlines:
- Application for internal selection at TU-Sofia – from November 2024 to February 28, 2025
- Deadline for sending the approved list from universities to EPO and EUIPO - February 28, 2025
- Online applications from approved students to:
- EPO Munich – from February 14 to March 15, 2025 and
- EUIPO Alicante – from March 1 to March 31, 2025.
- Results of the selection in EPO and EUIPO - until June 30, 2025
- Start of the internship – from mid-September 2025.
