A Japanese delegation of established experts in energy and technology visited the Technical University – Sofia

A Japanese delegation of international experts in the field of nuclear energy, electronics, and high technologies, led by former Minister of Economy Nikolai Stoyanov, visited the Technical University – Sofia. The guests are part of a joint delegation of the Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade of Germany (BWA), which is visiting Bulgaria at the invitation of Prime Minister Rumen Radev.

The Rector of the university, Prof. Georgi Venkov, the Deputy Rector for International Activities and Integration, Prof. Lidia Galabova, Prof. Georgi Angelov – former Deputy Minister of Innovations and Growth and current Coordinator for Innovations and Development at TU – Sofia, and Corresponding Member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Georgi Todorov – Chairman of the General Assembly and Head of the National Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies, presented the university, its cooperation with other European technical universities within the EUT+ Alliance, and its collaboration with countries outside the European Union in the fields of education and science.

The Japanese delegation included Dr. Seiki Soramoto, Executive Director of the International Energy and Technology Development Support Organization (IETDSO), Yoichi Kaneko, Senior Advisor for International Energy and Technologies at IETDSO, Toyosaki Yoshihisa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Japanese Cyber Smart City Development Consortium MCSCC (Matrix of Cyber Smart City Consortium), and Quach Ninh Tung, Consultant for International Exchange at IETDSO.

The Japanese organization works to support the development of energy and technologies in the country and seeks strategic partnership with our country.

During the discussions, opportunities for cooperation were explored in several key areas – nuclear energy, the semiconductor industry, the development of high technologies, and strategies for smart cities.

The guests were impressed by the scientific and research capacity and achievements of the higher technical institution. The talks between the two sides laid the foundation for prospects for the development of joint academic, educational, and research initiatives. The visit of the delegation to Bulgaria aims to generate valuable momentum and lasting connections, as well as value beyond individual and national projects.

The visit of the Japanese delegation is a high recognition of the activities of the Technical University – Sofia, which is the only academic institution in the program of the international experts. This once again confirms that the oldest higher technical institution is preferred at the international level as the best university, academic, and innovative engineering center in our country.
