The objective of the doctoral program “Optical and Laser Instruments and Methods” at the Department of Precision Engineering and Instrumentation (PEI) is to:

Enhance the qualifications of doctoral students and develop them into competent, knowledgeable, and capable scientists;
Developing cutting-edge research topics driven by contemporary advances in the fields of precision engineering, instrument engineering, and measurement technology (from both theoretical and practical perspectives);
Conducting research that is closely aligned with national industrial priorities

What are the admission requirements?

The program is conducted in strict compliance with the legal requirements for doctoral education.
Successful completion of master’s programs such as “Mechatronics,” “Metrology and Measurement Technology,” or “Medical Technology” is an excellent prerequisite for admission to this doctoral program.

What will I learn?

The main areas of study include:

Theoretical foundations of optics, as well as methods and principles for the design of optical components and devices;
Planning and automation of engineering experiments;
Development and research of optical components, devices, and systems in precision engineering, micromechanics, and nanotechnology;
Development and research of laser devices and systems, optoelectronics, and fiber optics;
Applications of optical and laser devices in medicine, biotechnology, office technology, and measurement technology.

Teaching and advising are provided by tenured faculty members with a high level of professional and scientific qualifications. To conduct theoretical and experimental research, the department has 10 specialized laboratories, including:

Optical and Laser Engineering;
Micromechanical and Laser Engineering;
Fine and Micromechanical Engineering;
Interchangeability and Technical Measurements;
Ultra-Precision Measurements;
Elements and Mechanisms in Precision Engineering;
Instruments for Measuring Geometric and Physicomechanical Quantities;
