5.2. Electrical Engineering, Electronics, and Automation

The doctoral program in “Electronic Converters” is driven by:

The growing interest of companies in the manufacturing sector in applied research related to the field of study;
The need to replenish the faculty of tenured professors by enhancing the educational and scientific qualifications of young teaching assistants and specialists in the country;
The presence at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications (FETT) and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEA) of highly qualified tenured faculty members across a wide range of disciplines with interests in current and promising scientific and applied scientific fields;
The enhancement of the theoretical and practical training of doctoral students.

The program is aimed at graduating students holding a “bachelor’s” or “master’s” degree who wish to further their education.
The program and the admissions process are conducted in strict compliance with the legal requirements for doctoral education.

The requirements for preparation and training ensure the acquisition of the following knowledge and skills:

Excellent training in the field of basic electronics and control systems—discrete and integrated;
Specific knowledge in the field of power electronic energy converters;
Excellent understanding of the characteristics and application possibilities of specific power electronic semiconductor devices and power passive components;
Knowledge in the field of information technology and software for analyzing nonlinear power electronic circuits;
Knowledge of the specific characteristics of measurement sensors and circuit design for implementing precise control and regulation;
Awareness of the current state of published research in the field of power electronics and in the specific area of the dissertation;
Application of the latest advances in information and communication technologies for research and development, analysis, and processing of information and data.
Instruction is provided by highly qualified, tenured faculty, with continuous improvement and modernization of the physical infrastructure to meet global standards.
