The doctoral program “Automobiles, Tractors, and Forklifts” is justified by:

The growing interest of companies in the manufacturing sector in applied research related to the subject areas of the program;
The availability of highly qualified, tenured faculty members across a wide range of disciplines with interests in current and promising scientific and applied research areas;
The need to replenish the tenured faculty by enhancing the educational and scientific qualifications of young teaching assistants and specialists from across the country;
The need among students to improve their educational qualifications.

What are the admission requirements?

The program is designed for graduating students holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree who wish to advance their education.
Admission and instruction are conducted in strict compliance with the legal requirements for doctoral education.

The training of specialists in the program includes the acquisition of the following knowledge and skills: Instruction and counseling are provided by highly qualified instructors, with continuous improvement and modernization of the facilities to meet global standards.

Excellent training and specialized knowledge in the fields of automobiles, tractors, forklifts, and mechanical sciences;
Training in technologies utilizing CAD, CAM, CAE, and software products such as LabVIEW and MATLAB;
Knowledge of modern measurement techniques;
Application of modern advances in information and communication technologies for research and development, analysis, and processing of information and data;
In-depth and creative understanding and use of specialized literature;
Acquisition of a high level of skills, knowledge, and qualifications for theoretical and/or experimental research work and the demonstration of creative thinking.

The goal of the program is for doctoral students to become:

Highly qualified faculty members at TU-Sofia;
Competent, knowledgeable, and capable researchers, ready to meet the challenges of modern industry and technology;
Specialists conducting applied research in close collaboration and constant contact with companies in the manufacturing sector.
