The doctoral program in “Internal Combustion Engines” is justified by:

The widespread use of internal combustion engines in nearly all fields of human activity;
Industry’s ever-growing need for highly qualified professionals;
The need to train qualified faculty members in this field;
The desire of engineering graduates to acquire new theoretical and practical knowledge.

The following requirements apply to students enrolled in the program:

A master’s degree in “Transport Engineering and Technologies” or another field related to the study of internal combustion engines and automotive engineering;
Motivation to acquire new knowledge and practical skills;
Teamwork skills;
A desire to build new facilities and upgrade the existing infrastructure of the teaching department.
The program is conducted in full compliance with the Higher Education Act, the Research and Development Act, the Regulations for the Implementation of the Research and Development Act, and the Internal Rules for the Development of the Academic Staff at TU-Sofia.

The program is offered by the Department of Engines, Automotive Engineering, and Transportation at the Faculty of Transportation Engineering, Technical University of Sofia. The program is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills in the following areas:

Theory and design of internal combustion engines;
Control Systems;
Testing and Operation of Internal Combustion Engines.
